Cricket Bat Oiling and Knocking

Cricket Bat knocking is essential for any cricket bat, don't get tricked with those ready to play stickers.

EVERY bat requires knocking, if you don't most likely you will end up breaking the bat from edges or toes and ball won't travel the distance you expect.

HIRE experts always to do the knocking if you are unsure how to knock a cricket bat. Over oiling a cricket bat will damage the willow and willow will not ping as beautifully as it should.

KNOCKING concept is as simple as compressing fibre within the timber making it stronger and better for performance. On an average a bat requires 10000 to 12000 knocks.

MACHINE Vs MALLET Knocking are both needed depending on which area of the bat you are knocking. If you are knocking edges, you will need a mallet to make them rounded. The rounder the edges, the smoother they are and ball won't break it. Machine knock is fast but should be done under supervision of professional.

WAXING is post knocking process, helps to retain moisture within the willow for longer durability. DO NOT replace oiling a cricket bat with WAXING. Oil goes within the willow which improves moisture content where as WAX helps to retain the moisture within the willow.
