Cricket Bat Weight

Often we hear this, we need a bat weight of 2.7/2.8

Guys, how to choose a cricket bat which is a perfect fit you. We have several years of experience and we believe you should follow few simple steps to choose a cricket bat.

Bat Weight means nothing but a scale weight. What you like is balance which you can tell from the profile of the cricket bat. The centered thickness will have less bottom heavy feel to it hence you will feel its light.
There is usually a huge confusion on what scale weight is correct. When you see those 2.8 stickers it means 2 pounds 8 ounces which is roughly equivalent to 1140 gms or 2.6 lbs.

You want maximum performance but want to have a lighter weight bat, well the simplest way to see the bat weight is in grams. Ask the supplier for grams weight. Anything in the range of 1100 to 1180 gms is light weight bat. Also see the profile of the bat and ensure the weight or thickness is not shifted too low else it will feel as if you are lifting 1250 gms of the weight.

Also if you lift a cricket bat at a 180 degree angle (Flat pointing out), and you see your wrist is dropping, that means the bat is too heavy for you which will impact your shots playing ability. Ensure you are able to lift it easily with your wrist not dropping down.

PROFILE of a cricket bat depends on which country or conditions you are playing in. Higher the bounce, the upwards you will see the meat of the cricket bat. Lower the bounce, lower the profile or thickness of the cricket bat will be. IN USA we usually see bottom heavy bats, the workaround to this is lighter on top (Less thicker), light on bottom (Less thicker on bottom) and centered balance. Brands like Laver and Wood, BG, GM, SS/TON, Kookaburra, Bazooka, and SG have mastered this profile and deliver top quality bats.
